WHO AM I?
My name is Noreen Benford. I am 56 years old and live in Orlando, Florida with my husband, Brandon, my son, Jack, and my step-daughter, Madeline. I exercise regularly and I love to spend time with my family, go to the theme parks, ride bikes, hike, cook, have barbecues and pool parties, and just have fun.

HOW DID THIS ALL START?
In October 2018, my last physical indicated that I was perfectly healthy. Then, in March of 2019 I went to the doctor thinking I had a UTI. Unfortunately, it was not a UTI. One week later and after 5 days in the hospital, I was diagnosed with Acute IgA Nephropathy, My Kidney function is currently at 16%. To say the least, this disease has come on quick and is a complete shock to me.
HOW DID I GET THIS DISEASE?
No one knows. I had no prior symptoms. I've been healthy and active my entire life with no major illnesses. I do not have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or any other mid-life ailments. I watch what I eat, exercise regularly and live a fairly healthy life style. This disease does not run in my family. The doctors are mystified as to what caused this and why it came on so suddenly. They think it may be a genetic defect that is unique to me or I just fall in the 5% category of unknown causes.
